Flock Dog Rig
By riggerman | June 7, 2008
Cartoon dog rig I made at the beginning of the year (freelance work) for True Motion Studios! : )
It was challenging because even though I learned 3D in XSI, I’m mainly used to rig in Maya. Also, the client wanted lots of features that I didn’t knew how to replicate back in XSI. Synoptic Views are really fun to make! Learned a lot about synoptic scripting too!
Result: little sleep time and a lot of fun experimental stuff. Some functionality bugs here and there but I’m getting the hang of it! : )
Here’s a little capture of me playing with some facial controls. I’m keeping the rendered animations for my upcoming demo reel!

Thats an awsome rig!
Are the smaller face controls joints or objects parented to clusers? And How did you make the snout deform? Was that on a joint or a deformer like your fish?

Hey Randa, thanks for the compliments!
It’s rare for anyone but my friends to write me something… Ok, the smaller face controls are clusters on a curve that is deforming the mesh. The snout deform is a bend deformer!
